Saints Start Strong With Back-to-Back Road Victories

Mission College's Women's Basketball Team opened the 2023-24 season with resounding back-to-back road victories against Yuba College and American River College. 

In their first game against Yuba, the Saints dominated with an impressive 73-40 win. Shooting 41% from the field, including 32% of their three-point attempts, the Saints displayed excellent ball movement, accumulating 24 assists. Defensively, the Saints played with tenacious effort, finishing with a staggering 19 steals. Alli Dioli put up 21 points, including four three-pointers, and contributed 4 rebounds and assists. Lali Montesino showcased her abilities with 20 points, including 2 three-pointers, and added 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Ciana Mayorquin showed her versatility with 13 points, including 3 three-pointers, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Addy Munoz and Amanda Atayde both had 8 points, while Hannah Rankin had 3 points to go along with 6 assists. 

In their second game, the Saints were equally impressive, defeating American River College by a score of 86-47. The team's offensive firepower was even more evident, finishing with a 50% field goal percentage and connecting on 37.9% of their three-point attempts. Teamwork remained a priority with 23 assists.

Montesino led the charge with 25 points. Not to be outdone, Dioli finished with an equally impressive 23 points. Hannah Rankin added 14 points for the Saints. Atayde, Munoz, Mayorquin, and Hisman contributed to securing another victory for the Saints.

Aggressive team defense held their opponents to 29% (Yuba) and 33% (American River) shooting, causing 29 turnovers and 19 steals against Yuba, and 26 turnovers with 11 steals against American River.
