Rando Signs with Marlins

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-- Former Mission College All-State catcher Tyler Rando signed with the Miami Marlins as a free agent.

The San Jose and Willow Glen High alum spent the past three seasons at Gonzaga, hitting .307 in his career including .315 this past season to earn first-team All-West Coast Conference honors.

Rando was a 2019 All-State selection at Mission and a two-time All-Coast Conference selection. He hit .381 in his career, including .408 his sophomore season. He was part of the 2018 Coast Conference champions for the Saints which reached the Super Regionals, and part of two playoff teams.

This past season Rando caught Rockies first round pick and RHP Gabriel Hughes, the 10th overall selection. Rando caught four 2022 MLB Draft picks this past year for the Zags.
