Papagayo-Cruz heads Saints trio earning All-Coast recognition

The Mission College basketball team's season may be over, but the post-season awards for three Saints have started rolling in. Aliezay Papagayo-Cruz was named to the All-Coast South 1st Team, while Hannah Rankin earned 2nd Team recognition, and Dulce Jacobo was selected to the Honorable Mention team, Mission coach Antonio Veloso recently announced.

Papagayo-Cruz, who was named to the All-Coast South 2nd Team in 2021-22, led the Saints with 15.7 points-per-game (PPG) and 2.6 steals-per-game (SPG), and was second on the team with 1.7 assists-per-game (APG) and fourth with 5.7 rebounds-per-game (RPG). The sophomore ball-handler from Santa Clara finished her Saints career averaging 12.4 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 2.5 SPG and 1.8 APG.

Rankin, a first-year guard from Fremont's Washington High School, finished the 2022-23 season with a team-high 2.5 APG, along with 3.7 PPG, 2.8 RPG and .9 SPG.

Jacobo picked up her second straight Honorable Mention selection after leading Mission with 7.6 RPG and one block-per-game. The sophomore post player from San Jose's James Lick High School also averaged 6.7 PPG and 1.7 SPG, despite missing the first ten games of the season.
